Joyas de Papel was born from the hands of Diego Ante, creator and founder of a business project that was taking its first steps back in 2000. Enthusiastic about miniatures and origami, Diego began an intense search to turn those first paper creations into jewels. Many tests and pieces later, were born the origami bird earrings made with an authentic paper cheat sheet, of course; their optimum hardness and final finish encouraged him to create pieces that, like kimono jewellery, parrots or dresses, are now part of the brand's collection of classics.
With thousands of designed pieces, almost two decades of experience and the evolution of the company with the incorporation of Begoña (2013), in Joyas de Papel we bet on creativity and passion to create surprising jewels.
When, in 2010, that first idea of creating jewellery on paper achieved a professional profile, we were clear that quality and design were our best chances to make a name for ourselves in the world of handcrafted jewellery. The origami culture gave us a little bit of 'uniqueness' to launch ourselves into designing paper dreams and turning them into handcrafted jewellery.
Unlike origami, the main premise of origami (ori-, folding -kami, paper) is the use of a single piece of paper that is modeled with folds, without added cuts or adhesives of any kind. The combination of different techniques allows us to create an almost infinite universe of surprising and original pieces.
With the incorporation of Begoña, design becomes a matter of two and together with Diego, both share tasks, sketches, ideas and models until they find the perfect design. You never know how far the creative process will take you: sometimes it is memories like those paper planes from childhood that inspire us; our love of Art took free rein in the Museums collection with earrings, necklaces and rings inspired by iconic paintings; in the Áurea collection it was the play of a geometric fold that marked the starting point,... A choral work in which each design transcends the imprint of our team.
